March is National Talk with your Teen about Sex month. Make sure your child is equipped with the knowledge to make responsible decisions about sex in the future. Make sure your teen knows your values regarding sex and sexual relationships.

2. NBC’s “The More You Know” Features Talking With Kids Ads

Debra Messing of NBC’s Will and Grace is featured in a new PSA to encourage parents to talk with their kids about violence. The ad is part of NBC’s long running series of “The More You Know” PSA’s.

3. Breaking Records and Receiving Awards [return to top]

In January the Talking With Kids Web site received a record breaking 75,000 visitors viewing more than 100,000 of pages. Thank you for your continued support. The site also received Pacific Bell’s “Blue Web’n” award for educational excellence.

4. Working Mother Magazine Features Talking with Kids [return to top]

The Talking With Kids Campaign material was featured in the March issue of Working Mother magazine. Call it a parent’s pop quiz. You haven't studied and you’re totally stumped. That’s how one parent, a Denver teacher, felt when her 10-year-old son Max asked “Mom, did you ever try drugs?”

5. Free Bay Area Parenting Seminar [return to top]

Want to start talking with your child about drugs, but don't know where to begin. Visit “Healthy Kids Day,” sponsored by the YMCA of the east bay. Our parenting experts will be on hand to answer even the toughest questions, as well as provide tips on how to make talking about all issues with your child a little easier.

6. Talking With Kids Collaborates with Mylifepath.com [return to top]

Talking with kids about Tough Issues material will soon be available at "MyLifePath," a free online health and wellness service provided by Blue Shield of California. This site provides customized healthcare news and information, available free of charge to the public even if you are not a member of a Blue Shield Health Plan. Please visit the children’s health section of the site to learn more about the importance of creating an environment of open communication between you and your child.
